I recently attended the Giant Days parade during our town’s festival and while sitting along the parade route with my brother-in-law’s young children, I was frustrated with the lack in upkeep that the roads received prior to the celebration and parade.
I watched young children sort through sand and dirt along the curb just to find their candy. I also have noticed this to be a large issue not only along the parade route where I was sitting, but also on south Main Street near my place of work. The build-up of sand and dirt can be shoveled, not swept, as it has become such an issue.
I’m appalled that there are random weeds looming out of many of the sidewalk and road cracks across town that are left uncared about and that our curbs are turning into sand boxes.
As per the letter to the editor last week regarding the library gardens, they do look wonderful! However, I’m wondering if my tax money can be spread evenly and not just in a few choice library flower beds?
