Organic dairy takes root in Le Sueur County On Aug. 14 Kevin Stuedemann invited farmers, friends and neighbors to a pasture walk on his northern Le Sueur County farm. Stuedemann employs the practice of managed grazing on his 170-acre organic farm. He currently milks about 60 crossbred cows with plans to increase his herd to 100 over the next several years. Paul M. City council approves airport construction With recent heat indexes hovering in triple digits, folks might not be thinking about snow removal. But that was the topic at the Aug. 9 meeting of the Le Sueur City Council. The council approved the purchase of a hangar at the municipal airport and accepted a bid to construct a storage building to house snow removal equipment.

Surveyor's Le Center office to close At its Aug. 10 meeting, the Le County Board of Commissioners was notified the Le Sueur County surveyor is looking at closing the Le Center office. St. Peter man sentenced for court order violation A 27-year old St. Peter man was sentenced in district court on Aug. 10 for violating and order for protection. According to papers filed at the Le Sueur County courthouse, on July 31 the Le Sueur Police Department was dispatched to a report of an order for protection violation. The responding officer met with a woman who stated she had received several text messages from the suspect along with several messages from him on her Facebook account. Paul M. Malchow |
Local student attends summer ACE camp Kenny Callahan, a junior at Le Sueur-Henderson High School, was among 49 Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa high school students who graduated from the 2010 summer Minnesota Career Education Camps (ACE). Since 1991, there has been close to 1,200 students introduced to the World of Aviation through Minnesota’s renowned ACE Academies, which are also accredited so that the students earn a high school credit after completing camp.

Deputies put breaks on speeding motorists Throughout July, the Le Sueur County deputies conducted enhanced speed patrols and cited (22) motorists traveling at illegal speeds during a statewide speed enforcement campaign administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.

Warrant issued for Lake Washington break-ins The Le Sueur County Sherriff’s department has issued a warrant for Kent Allen Christensen, 20, Mankato for his involvement in a series of break-ins near Connor’s Point on Lake Washington. Dairy Queen is dethroned That’s not an extra-large drive-through window at the Le Sueur Dairy Queen building on U.S. Highway 169. The cone with a curly top is just a memory as the landmark was torn down on July 29. The city is building an access to the industrial park area off of Highway 169.
