LSH students did great job at Spelling Bee
Email Print
Last week I attended the Le Sueur-Henderson district spelling bee and when it was over two things came to mind.
One – there are some really good spellers in grades 5-8 and two – I really need to expand my vocabulary.
During the first three or four rounds I was writing down the words the kids had to spell. Some of the words were – pigeon, scholarship, hysterical, miraculous, luxury…
Then came rounds seven when my epiphany came. I need to brush up on vocab words! Here are the words that I couldn’t spell or define.
Ineffable – too great to be described.
Enfranchise – give the right to vote.
Aggrandizement – make seem greater.
Circuitous – roundabout, indirect.
Adjudicate – act as judge.
Cajolery - to persuade by flattery.
This last word, I would like to note, John Paul Sosa, the spelling bee winner – did not have a problem with this word. I spelled it completely wrong in my notebook.
Congratulations to all the spelling bee participants and good luck to John Paul who will be competing in the regional competition at South Central College next week.

Congratulations to the One-Act Play team and director Marie Kreft who took first place in the sub-section competition on Saturday.
The Section 2A One-Act Play competition is this Saturday at Le Sueur-Henderson High School. Please see the brief on page 1A for Le Sueur-Henderson’s performance time.
The Minnesota State Class 1A One-Act competition is Feb. 12 at The O’Shaughnessy Auditorium on the campus of St. Catherine’s in St. Paul.
Good Luck LSH!
